At one time, scientists often worked in isolation. They attempted to gain an understanding of the world about them yet seldom communicated their findings to others, either because they chose not to or because communication avenues were difficult due to the vast distances between them.
Our knowledge and understanding of the world about us grew exponentially during the early part of the 20th century (and continues to do so) largely as a result of established guidelines for communicating scientific findings as well as improved methods of communication technology.
As science teachers, one of our objectives is to prepare you for post-secondary studies. In doing so, we need to show you how to properly communicate your experimental results. Not all reports will be formal lab reports but, regardless of whether or not you are writing a formal report, each section of the report must adhere to a specific set of guidelines.
The link below directs you to a printable version of said guidelines. Use it to assist you in improving your writing skills. How to write a lab report version 2.pdf
For every lab that you submit, you are asked to please print the rubric below and to attach it to the back of your report. Rubric to come in the near future
